Conceived by Nicholas Ashford, one half of the songwriting
and performing sensation Ashford & Simpson, the converted first
floor of the mixed use brownstone is one of the most cultural and
intimate Live Entertainment / Full Service Restaurants you’ll
find in New York’s trendy Upper West Side. Co-owned with his
wife Valerie Simpson, the Sugar Bar was built in 1996 and emmenates
the intimate vibration of an old country village where the air alone
heals the soul.
Since opening, the Sugar Bar has been host to various celebrities
such as: Bruce Willis, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, BeBe Winans,
Andre Harrell, Dr. Maya Angelou, Michael Douglas, Patrick Ewing,
Dexter King, Al Sharpton, Norman Leary, Berry Gordy, Diahne Carroll,
Kathleen Battle, Lynn Whitfield, Don King, Clarence Williams III,
Roscoe Lee Brown, Susan E. Taylor, Judith Jamison, Marilee Edgars,
